Region XII Ascension Day Service
Musicians from St. Matthew's joined those of Christ Church in offering special musical praises to the Lord at the Region XII Ascension Day service on May 21 at Christ Church on Pouncey Tract Road in the Short Pump area. The musical offerings ranged from classic hymns to contemporary worship and praise pieces, chosen by Keith Tan, Music Minister of Christ Church. The muscial highlight for many was There Is a Higher Throne, a contemporary hymn by Keith and Kristyn Getty. B. J. Barlow of St. Matthew's conducted the choir of about 50 singers and instrumentalists. Instruments for the service included violins, flutes, clarinet, hand bells, guitars, percussion, and several keyboards (piano, electronic strings, and B-3 Hammond).
The Rt. Rev. David Colin Jones, Bishop Suffragan, preached. Readers and service leaders, lay and clerical, represented a wide variety of Region XII churches.
