1 TIMOTHY 2:5-7 THE TRUTH
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
There is one message of salvation to all men. That message is the Word of God, and him incarnate.
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today, in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ, the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11).
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
“Salvation is found in no one else (Jesus), for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).
When one is lost the best news he can hear is that this is the way to his destination. The biblical message given by angels, apostles, the Church and the Messiah is that Jesus is the guaranteed way home to the Father. That is the truth and good news for all who admit they are lost.
Father, thank you for providing the way of reconciliation with you through your Son. May the message of my life be your truth so that my neighbor might come to know your reconciling love. May I not be driven to compromise on your message by the pressures of a pluralistic world. Give me the love that thinks of you and the eternal wellbeing of my neighbor before my own comfort or convenience. Amen.
