Rector Studying in England

Our Rector, Chuck Alley, has completed his sabattical studies. Before leaving to study in England, he provided information on the C.S. Lewis Institute in England. John Alley, the Rector's son, also attended. (For an 8/7 update on their studies click here. For an 8/2 update click here.) See there pictures from England here.

During the next two weeks (July 26 – August 8), John and I will be in England attending the Oxbridge 2008 conference of the C.S. Lewis Summer Institute. The theme of the conference is “The Self and the Search for Meaning.” Speakers include experts in philosophy, theology, law, medicine, literature, business and the arts. We will be staying “in college” at Oxford during the first week and Cambridge during the second. The schedule contains worship opportunities, as well as plenary lectures in the morning, electives and tours in the afternoon, and various cultural opportunities and lectures in the evening. I will be participating in a science and theology symposium entitled, “What does it mean to be human?” In addition, John is scheduled to sing with the Institute Choral at all worship services and during special performances at Ely Cathedral, St. Aldate’s, Christ Church and King’s College.

Please join us in prayer, especially for safe travel, good health and spiritual edification. For more information: http://www.cslewis.org/programs/oxbridge/2008

Chuck and John Alley

Heavenly Father, we thank you, the great protector, for safely bringing your servants Chuck and John home. Let the gifts bestowed upon them in England lead all of us into a closer relationship with you. We give thanks in your Holy Son’s name. Amen.
